Ala Ahmad is the Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, with over 25 years of experience in finance, strategy, and general management across the global life insurance industry.

He joined MetLife Bangladesh in 1999 and later served as Financial Controller for Bangladesh and Nepal, Chief Financial Officer for South Asia, CEO of MetLife Nepal, and Head of Strategy, Business Planning and Transformation at AmMetLife in Malaysia. In 2019, he was appointed CEO and Board Member of MetLife Hong Kong, and in 2021 became CEO of MetLife Bangladesh.

Throughout his career, Ala Ahmad has focused on creating sustainable enterprise value by combining customer insights, strategic thinking, and disciplined leadership to drive growth and transformation.

In addition to his responsibilities at MetLife, he serves as Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham). He is a former Treasurer of AmCham, former Director of the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), and former Member of the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF).

Ala Ahmad holds a Master’s degree and multiple professional designations, including CAANZ, FCA, FLMI, and FSI, and is a fellow of the Capstone Course at the National Defence College, Bangladesh. He is an alumnus of National University of Singapore Business School and Harvard Business School’s executive program.
