Critical Illness Insurance Protection Plan (CIIPP): Frequently Asked Questions

Critical Illness Insurance Protection Plan (CIIPP) is a MetLife Policy that provides financial protection against 52 covered critical illnesses, including Cancer, Stroke, First Heart Attack and Kidney Disease. CIIPP also provides life insurance coverage and helps the Insured and their family manage the financial impact of medical treatment and loss of income caused by a covered critical illness.

MetLife CIIPP covers 52 critical illnesses, consisting of 18 minor critical illnesses and 34 major critical illnesses. The covered conditions include Cancer, Stroke, First Heart Attack and Kidney Disease. The benefit amount and effect on the Policy depend on whether the diagnosed condition or covered surgery qualifies as a minor or major critical illness.

MetLife CIIPP provides critical illness and life insurance coverage until the Insured reaches 80 years of age. The long-term coverage can help protect the Insured during older age or retirement, when regular income may decrease or stop while medical expenses may increase.

MetLife CIIPP allows the Policyowner to choose a fixed Premium payment term of 12, 15 or 20 years while receiving coverage until the Insured reaches 80 years of age. This arrangement allows the Policyowner to complete Premium payments during a selected period and continue receiving long-term critical illness and life insurance coverage afterward.

MetLife CIIPP pays 25% of the Face Amount or BDT 500,000, whichever is lower, if the Insured is diagnosed with or undergoes surgery for one of the 18 covered minor critical illnesses. The Insured can claim the minor critical illness benefit once during the Policy term.

The Policy continues to provide its other applicable coverages after MetLife pays the minor critical illness benefit.

MetLife CIIPP pays 100% of the Face Amount for a covered major critical illness, less any amount paid or payable under the minor critical illness benefit. The major critical illness benefit applies if the Insured is diagnosed with or undergoes surgery for one of the 34 covered major critical illnesses during the Policy term.

The CIIPP Policy terminates after MetLife pays the major critical illness benefit.

Yes, a CIIPP Policy can continue after a minor critical illness claim and may subsequently provide the applicable major critical illness benefit. The Insured can claim the minor critical illness benefit only once. If a covered major critical illness occurs later, MetLife pays 100% of the Face Amount after deducting the amount paid or payable for the minor critical illness.

The Policy terminates after payment of the major critical illness benefit.

Yes, MetLife CIIPP provides a death benefit if the Insured dies from any cause while the Policy coverage remains in force. MetLife pays 100% of the Face Amount after deducting any amount paid or payable under the minor critical illness benefit.

Yes, MetLife CIIPP provides an additional benefit if the Insured dies due to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. The additional benefit equals 25% of the Face Amount or BDT 500,000, whichever is lower.
