[Dhaka, September 13, 2025] Helen Keller International and MetLife Foundation jointly launched a program that will support 500 poverty-stricken families in the haor region of Sunamganj, Sylhet. This initiative aims to help families engage in income-generating activities to overcome poverty.
The families will be able to generate income by learning both on-farm and off-farm trades, including livestock and poultry rearing, tailoring, aquaculture, small business ventures, fishing (boat and net), and commercial vegetable farming.
Dr. Md Mahmudul Hasan, Acting Country Director of Helen Keller International, said, “We have always strived to support people living in poverty and to create a long-term positive impact on society. Partnering with MetLife Foundation to improve the lives of 500 families is a great opportunity and a powerful demonstration of our shared purpose.”
“We are proud that MetLife Foundation’s funding implements initiatives that strengthen the resilience of communities across the country. This project is not only empowering hundreds of families to build a better future, but also contributing positively to the national economy,” commented Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh.
MetLife Foundation has been actively supporting development initiatives in Bangladesh, with a focus on economic inclusion, financial health, and resilient communities. Through strategic partnerships, the Foundation has helped expand access to essential services and economic opportunities for underserved communities, contributing to a more resilient and inclusive society.
